Cuối năm 1956, Elvis thực hiện bộ phim đầu tay Love Me Tender (cho mãi tới giờ, các fan vẫn có thể đứng lặng lẽ hàng giờ nghe lời ca ngọt ngào của ông trong ca khúc cùng tên mỗi dịp được tụ họp ở Memphis, kỷ niệm ngày mất Elvis). Lợi nhuận thu được từ Love Me Tender lên tới 150.000.000 USD. Tiếp theo đó là Jailhouse Rock cũng mang lại thành công không kém. Công chúng hâm mộ đã nghĩ tới Presley như một ngôi sao Hollywood. Elvis đã diễn xuất trong 31 bộ phim ở giai đoạn 1956 - 1969. Ông qua đời ngày 16/8/1977 khi mới 42 tuổi, người ta đã không tin sự thật này và có tới hàng trăm nghìn người khẳng định, luôn thấy bóng hình Elvis ẩn hiện đâu đó...
